It's impossible to judge who the most famous person is really. For instance, Alan Davies may be the most famous person in Europe and Asia but people in Australasia and Africa would probably have never have heard of him. The best answer is that he is a very famous and widely known person, but that is as good as it gets. Sorry.
Apollo was said to dwell on Mount Olympus, the home of the Greek gods. He also had a temple at Delphi, where the famous Oracle of Delphi would deliver prophecies in his name. Additionally, Apollo was associated with the sun and his chariot was believed to traverse the sky each day.
