Many rockets use solid fuels, which are closely related to explosives but burn in a slow, controlled fashion.

The most common liquid rocket fuels are kerosene and liquid hydrogen, however since a rocket doesn't use outside air to burn its fuel, it also has to carry liquid oxygen too.

Satellites and space probes commonly use hydrazine for fuel, together with an oxidizer like nitrogen tetroxide or nitrous oxide. This fuel/oxidizer combination has the advantage of being hypergolic, meaning they will ignite as soon as they mix. They are very toxic and hazardous for the environment though so they should not be used for launches from the ground, only in space.

Where do fireworks and space rockets get their oxygen from?

They take it with them in some form or another. Fireworks use oxidizing salts such as various nitrates and chlorates. Solid fuel rockets generally use ammonium perchlorate as an oxidizer while liquid fuel rockets carry liquid oxygen.
