Not much. It is a static (unchanging) environment. Once every couple of weeks the sun either sets or rises--the lunar day is about a month long. From time to time a tiny meteorite smacks into the surface. These events are quite rare. Once in awhile a really big meteorite whacks the moon, tossing up a bunch of debris. This happens every few million years or so.
When the moon grows smaller, it is said to be waning. This is the period between the full moon and the new moon, when the visible portion of the moon decreases.

When the lit part of the Moon grows larger, it is in the phase known as "waxing." This phase occurs after the New Moon and leads up to the Full Moon. During this time, more of the Moon's surface becomes illuminated as seen from Earth, transitioning from a crescent to a gibbous shape.
