Original Answer:
During the Apollo 13 mission to the mon, just as the astronauts were about to separate from the command nodule there was a blast , and the trip to the moon was abandoned and the three astronauts Jim Lovell , jack Swigert and Fred Haise had to use the lunar module to return to earth. So Jim Lovell is the only man in history to twice reach the moon and still not to walk on it sadly.
Improved Answer:
The above answer is pretty good. Except that the explosion did not occur as any separation activity was occurring or about to occur. The mission had not even reached lunar orbit. The crew had just finished a routine television broadcast (that was not aired) when NASA asked the crew to stir the oxygen tanks. This is a routine task to keep the gas from freezing and stratifying in the tanks. During the stir, a wire sparked, and an explosion occurred.
Gemini, Apollo, and Shuttle used fuel cells for power. These devices combine oxygen and hydrogen to produce electricity, and the byproduct is water that is safe to drink. Without Oxygen to supply the fuel cells, the Apollo Command/Service module quickly lost power., and any source of sustained water for the astronauts.
This meant that the three astronauts had to use the two man lunar module as a lifeboat for a slingshot trip around the moon. The commend module could not be jettisoned as it had the only heat shield to get them back to earth.
Apollo 13
Apollo 13 was the name of the mission that landed the first men on the moon.
Apollo 13 was a manned mission to the moon that experienced an oxygen tank explosion which severely damaged the spacecraft. The mission had to be aborted, and the crew safely returned to Earth in a dramatic rescue mission.
Apollo 13 is the mission that experienced a critical failure on its way to the moon and had to abort the mission. The crew famously managed to safely return to Earth despite the challenges they faced.
There was only one Apollo mission in 1970: Apollo 13. As it failed to land on the Moon, all missions where suspended until the Apollo 13 event was investigated and the origin of the problem, corrected.

Apollo 13 did not land on the moon. They had an explosion in the Service Module which forced them to abort the mission and return home.
Apollo 13 was the spacecraft that had an oxygen tank explosion, not the lunar module that landed on the moon. The lunar module that landed on the moon during the Apollo 11 mission was called the Eagle, piloted by astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin.
Apollo 13 did not land on the moon. The mission had to be aborted after an oxygen tank exploded, causing critical issues with the spacecraft's systems. The crew safely returned to Earth without landing on the moon.
The men of Apollo 13 did not walk on the moon.
