there really is no way of knowing for sure at least not with the technology we have now but there are a lot of theories ranging from massive seismic events like earthquakes and volcanic eruptions all the way to releasing demons from hell.

I don't think that's possible since theres so much heat at the center that a person might die. Secondly, it would take years to drill a hole so deep and a person would just die without food and water for so long! hope that helped :)

To make this simpler, let's assume that: * You actually could do this (you can't, because the interior of the Earth is not solid) * The Earth is not rotating or that you drill the hole from the north pole to the south pole (this eliminates the Coriolis effect) * There's no air in the hole (to eliminate air friction) Under those conditions, what would happen is that you would fall all the way through the hole and come out the other end. You'd accelerate until you reached the center (though at a slower and slower rate as you approached the center) and then decelerate at a gradually increasing rate until you popped out the other end, at which point you'd fall back through the hole and come out where you started, and then you'd cycle back and forth. It would take a surprisingly short time to do this: about 84 minutes round trip, or 42 minutes one way. At the center of the Earth you'd be moving at a speed of almost 8000 m/s or 18000 miles per hour. Interestingly enough, this is exactly orbital speed at the Earth's surface, and the period of such an orbit would also be 84 minutes.

If such a hole were theoretically possible, you would experience a free fall due to gravity until reaching the center of the Earth, where gravity would slow you down before pulling you back towards the other side. You would oscillate back and forth until eventually coming to rest at the center due to Earth's gravitational forces balancing out. However, this scenario is impossible in reality due to extreme heat and pressure at Earth's core.
