Well, I'm glad you asked "What is Super Mario Galaxy?". And since you asked and no-one had answered yet, I'll do it for them. Let me start by the storyline of the game. Every One hundred years, a comet would fall somewhere amongst the plains of the Mushroom Kingdom, and so to celebrate, Princess Peach would host the Star festival. And what a festival it would be, Star bits would shower from the skies and the villagers would run around, trying to catch them. It was fun, until one other Star Festival, Mario received a letter: "Dear Mario, Please come to the star Festival, there's something I like to give to you. Yours Truly, Peach (I think that's what the letter said, I can't really remember. Once I play it again, I'll edit that part). Not one to turn down an invitation, Mario headed off towards the castle. And there, he saw the Toads scattering around the grounds of the Mushroom Castle, trying to catch the falling Star Bits. Everything at that night was the way it should be. That is, until, an invited guest came gatecrashing. Yeah, you know who I'm talking about: the villanous, Bowser. And he cut straight to the chase. But he didn't just abducted Princess Peach, oh no. He also adbucted the whole castle. Mario tried to save her, but was blasted away by Kamek, one of Bowser's most powerful cronies. Mario woke up on a strange planet, thus his galactic adventure begins. Now, let me tell you about the characters in the game. Rosalina: She's the princess and "mother" to all the lumas that lives in the Comet observatory. She did live in earth, but her past is shrouded in mystery. If you want to find out about her past, then you have to play the game to find out. Polari: The wisest Luma in the Observatory. He helps Mario by supplying him nitty-gritty information. Mailtoad: He gives Mario letters. Mostly, they're gifts from Princess Peach containing 5 1-up mushroms. Luigi: He helps Mario (you) find power stars that may have been left behind unnoticed in (Blogging to be continued)

No, the Hubble Galaxy (Messier 31, or the Andromeda Galaxy) is not the closest major galaxy to our own. The Andromeda Galaxy is located about 2.537 million light-years from the Milky Way. The closest major galaxy to us is the Triangulum Galaxy (Messier 33), which is approximately 3 million light-years away.
The Andromeda Galaxy is a spiral barred galaxy, similar to our own galaxy, the Milky Way.
