What is astroplate?

Astroplate is a multi-step coating consisting of a chromate plating for strength and abrasion resistance, followed (usually) by a dye coating, then a final Nickel coating in a Nickel Acetate bath. It is usually applied to aluminum parts like electronic connectors.
