You're supposed to take your American flag down at dusk and put it back up at dawn. If you are unable to take your American flag down, you need to illuminate it either with lighting on the ground shining up or you can now get solar-powered lights you can attach to a flagpole to light it when the sun goes down.
I know of one website that sells them called Flag Expressions. They have solar ones too.
Most countries have that 'rule' as flag protocol.
The U.S. Flag Code states that the flag should only be displayed from sunrise to sunset, unless it is illuminated. Therefore, flying the flag at night without proper lighting is generally not considered respectful or appropriate. However, some interpretations allow for the flag to be flown at night if it is properly illuminated.
The light from the red glare you would be able to see it.
False. There is no restriction on flying the Canadian national flag at night without illumination. Consider the fact that a large portion of Canada has continuous night for a considerable part of the year. In those isolated climes where it may not be practical to provide artificial illumination, what would we have them do? Of course if it is practical to do, it is not wrong to illuminate it, but the Canadian Heritage Department simply states that "The flag may be flown by night as well as by day."
If the U.S. flag is flown at night, it is supposed to be lighted.
Absolutely. Flying your own countries flag is a privilege, however, if you keep your flag flying at night, it must have a light on it.

The rule is that the American flag has to be higher up than the Canadian flag.
Yes. According to the US Flag Code, Section 6(a), Chapter 1, Title 4, United States Code states that the flag may be displayed 24 hours a day if properly illuminated during the hours of darkness.

It can never touch the ground if it does you have to burn it or we take your food!
The duration of Flying the Flag is 1800.0 seconds.
It is not against the law, no. But if the flag is flying at night, it is considered poor form/disrespectful if it does not have a light trained on it.
Flying the Flag ended on 1992-08-04.
What are the rules about flying the American Flag
According to the US Flag Code, the US Flag should be larger in size and (if flying on the same pole), at the top of the pole. If flying the American flag with a state flag, the American flag needs to be on a taller pole than the state flag and displayed on the flag's right side. If flying them on poles of equal size, then flying the American flag on the flag's right side is correct.
Flags flown from tall masts can be flown 24 hours if illuminated at night. Flags flying from short poles have to be lowered at sunset.
