First off, I'll say that one exists currently and one will exist. An alternate universe is another universe that exists along with an infinite amount of others exist where in each, every single possible outcome of life happens in at least one. An alternate timeline is created whe someone time travels, just by being in the past they have effectively created an alternate timeline where they are in the past as opposed to the original timeline where they arent in the past.
Population refers to a group of individuals or elements being studied in a research or survey, while universe refers to the entire set of individuals or elements that could potentially be included in the study. In other words, the population is the specific group under investigation, while the universe is the broader set from which the population is drawn.
Astronomy studies the whole universe. And the other branches in earth science study the earth while astronomy isn't just studying the earth it studying the whole universe
The spaces between years on a timeline are typically referred to as intervals or time increments. These spaces help indicate the passage of time and allow for a visual representation of historical events.
Ptolemy's view proposed a geocentric model where Earth was at the center of the universe, while Aristarchus suggested a heliocentric model with the Sun at the center and Earth revolving around it. This fundamental difference in perspective laid the groundwork for later advancements in understanding the solar system.
The sky refers to the atmosphere above the Earth where clouds, the sun, moon, stars, and other celestial objects are visible. The universe, on the other hand, encompasses all matter, energy, space, and time, including galaxies, stars, planets, and all cosmic structures. The sky is a small part of the universe that we can observe from Earth.
To the best of my understanding, an alternate timeline is what the world would look like if a historical event had changed, however an alternate timeline does not actually exist other than in theory. A parallel world, if it existed would essentially be the physical representation of an alternate timeline with real ontological existence.

A timeline is a graphic representation of time on a line, like the timeline of a war in a museum exhibition. A calender is a timetable or a plan for carrying out a procedure.
A calendar generally is only for 12 months and shows holidays and particular dates you add events. A timeline shows a line of events and can go for years.
