Space travel uses alot of energy. One loaded shuttle at low earth orbit is enough energy to power a neighborhood for days. That's why if there was some sort of problem, there would be an issue of all of us to reach space. The sun is eventually going to explode at one time or another and there are some estimations, but with Global warming, it's going to be difficult to predict when the end will be for us. Who knows.. we could get fried.
This is also an expensive matter. Think about all the fuel and how much you think that will cost. We also get pricless knowledge about the universe and how it works. That's one of the most important things that a human can obtain.
When your in space, think about the dangers that are already there. We predict there will be incomming Solar storms.
