The epiclesis is a prayer in some Christian liturgies, especially in the Eastern Orthodox and Eastern Catholic Churches, where the priest invokes the Holy Spirit to come down and bless or sanctify the Eucharistic elements during the Divine Liturgy. It is a moment of invoking the presence and power of the Holy Spirit in the sacrament of the Eucharist.
