The moon was originally thought of as something just to give us light during the darkness of the night, but as we as humans found out later, it had a much bigger purpose. Don't ask me for why it's like this, it just is. The moon makes the Ocean have waves. Also, if the moon didn't exist, we would have eight hour days, like we did when the Earth was first created. We would also have much more, bigger, mountains because the moon exerts some of its pressure on the Earth, causing it to have smaller mountains than it would have without it.

Season result from the tilt of the earth in relation to the sun. Tides are caused (mainly) by the gravitational pull of the moon. An eclipse is a shadow, cast by the earth onto the moon, or a shadow of the moon cast on the earth. The phases of the moon are the part of the moon visible to the earth that is illuminated by the sun.
