The mesopause is the boundary between the mesosphere and the thermosphere in Earth's atmosphere, located around 50-85 kilometers (31-53 miles) above the Earth's surface. It is the coldest region of the atmosphere, with temperatures dropping as low as -90 degrees Celsius (-130 degrees Fahrenheit).
