Most science fiction novels call it "Luna", which is Latin for "Moon", and the proper name for it. Another name for the Moon is "Selene", which I think was Greek for "Moon".

In olden times, you didn't need a name for something if there was only one. Pre-telescope, there was only one Moon; there was no way to see any others
