That depends on the planet:

  1. Mercury - rock and soil
  2. Venus - rock and soil
  3. Earth - rock, soil, water ice, and liquid water
  4. Mars - rock, soil, carbon dioxide ice, and water ice
  5. Jupiter - no surface all gas
  6. Saturn - no surface all gas
  7. Uranus - no surface all gas
  8. Neptune - no surface all gas
If you're looking for a general word, perhaps you mean 'crust'.

Is Earth a solid planet?

No. The Earth is a rocky planet, divided into physical and chemical layers, which have evolved from a molten blob of material that accreted from sun orbiting debris nearly 4.6 billion years ago. Although pockets of molten (liquid) rock exist in the mantle and crust, these two layers are essentially composed of solid metamorphic, igneous and to a small extent, sedimentary rock. The outer core is the only liquid layer, composed of liquid iron and nickel. The inner core is a solid metal alloy composed mainly of iron and nickel. See the link below for a diagram.

Comparative essay on the inner planet vs the outer planet?

The inner: small, few moons, made of rock and metal the outer: large, lots of moons, made of gases

Why are there no 4 billion year old rocks?

When the planet Earth was originally formed, some four and a half billion years ago, it was very hot, and all the rock was liquid. It took some time to cool sufficiently for some of the rock to solidify. Most of the Earth's rock is still liquid, by the way. The solid crust is a thin layer that floats on top of a hot liquid mantle.Actually, rocks obtained from the Earth's Moon's highlands region are up to 4.5 billion years old.See the related Wikipedia (Moon rock) link listed below for more information:

A rock or minor planet orbiting the sun?

A rock, or minor planet orbiting the sun is an asteroid ( a rock that can be small or big, depends)! hope this helps you :D

What is planet Saturn made of?

It is made of gases. It's core is rock and ice. The outer layer and the second layer is both gases. The layer around the core is of liquid.

What is the name of the liquid rock layer of the Earth?

Magma. It is lava once it leaves the Earth's crust.

What layer of the earth made up of liquid rock?

the outer core

Which layer of the earth is made up of liquid rock?

Outer core.

Which earth layer is made up of liquid rock?

No layer is truly made of liquid rock. The mantle is sometimes, inaccurately, said to be liquid rock when it is in fact solid, albeit relatively soft. The outer core is liquid, but it consists of liquid metal, not rock.

What is the layer that contains liquid rock?

the layer in the earths suface that contains liquid rock is called: the inner core (mainly)\ outer core (some) and (parts) of the mantle.

What is the layer of the earth that consists of very hot and liquid rock?

The outer core.

What is the layer of the earth that contains mostly liquid rock?

There is no layer of Earth that is predominantly molten rock. The only layer of Earth that is liquid is the outer core, however this is mainly iron and nickel. The mantle, the thickest layer of the Earth, contains rock that is "ductile" (i.e. very viscous and able to flow very slowly), but not technically "liquid."

Which layer of Earth is composed of mostly liquid water and different types of rock crystals?

The outer core.
