The SETI institute, is an organisation that searches for evidence of extra terrestrial life. It does this by searching for the signals off of technological civilizations. There are two separate branches of the institute which each focus on different areas. The research and development branch works to create new technology and algorithms to further their search, whilst the projects branch implements the use of this technology to search for extra terrestrial life and inspire new research.
SETI (Search For Extra Terrestrial intelligence) broadcasts radio frequencies that are clear they are from intelligent life forms. So if a civilization were to pick it up they know its not random.
SETI (Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence) is the name for the private program (privately funded and operated) searching for evidence of extraterrestrial life. Contrary to popular belief and assumption, NASA has nothing to do with the SETI project.
SETI stands for Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence. It refers to scientific efforts to detect signals or evidence of intelligent life in the universe, often by using radio telescopes to scan for transmissions from other civilizations.
SETI listens to frequencies between 1420 (the Hydrogen molecule) and 1662 (the hydroxyl molecule). This is to say that an intelligent civilization would recognize these frequencies and would probably be monitoring them a well. The cosmos is full of these frequencies and a slight deviation in the regular pulsing of these frequencies would be noticed by anyone who is scanning the skies. Hope this helps. Sam Farina III
SETI (Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence) is important because it aims to answer one of humanity's biggest questions: Are we alone in the universe? Discovering evidence of intelligent life beyond Earth would have profound implications for our understanding of the cosmos and our place in it. It could also potentially lead to new scientific breakthroughs and technologies.

The SETI Institute (Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence) was formed in Mountain View, California, in the United States. It was founded in 1984 to explore, understand, and explain the nature and origins of life in the universe.
The SETI Institute is a not-for-profit research organization whose mission is to explore, understand, and explain the origin and nature of life in the universe, and to apply the knowledge gained to inspire and guide present and future generations. It aims for discovery and for sharing knowledge as scientific ambassadors to the public, the press, and the government. SETI stands for the "search for extraterrestrial intelligence".The Institute consists of three primary centers: The Carl Sagan Center, devoted to the study of life in the universe, the Center for Education, focused on astronomy, astrobiology and space science for students and educators, and the Center for Public Outreach, producing "Big Picture Science," the Institute's general science radio show and podcast, and "SETI Talks" weekly colloquium series.

Frank Drake is an American astrophysicist and astronomer best known for his contributions to the search for extraterrestrial intelligence (SETI). He developed the Drake Equation in 1961, a formula used to estimate the number of active, communicative extraterrestrial civilizations in the Milky Way galaxy. In addition to his work on SETI, he was a pioneer in radio astronomy and played a key role in the first scientific search for extraterrestrial signals with the Project Ozma in 1960. Drake also founded the SETI Institute in 1984, further advancing the study of life beyond Earth.

Seti I was born about 1,000,000 BCE.
The Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI) Institute employs a relatively small staff, typically around 100 people, including scientists, researchers, and support personnel. In addition to its core employees, SETI often collaborates with various universities and institutions, which can involve many additional researchers and volunteers contributing to its projects. The number can fluctuate based on specific initiatives and funding opportunities.

Jill Tarter is renowned for her pioneering work in the search for extraterrestrial intelligence (SETI). As the co-founder of the SETI Institute, she has played a crucial role in developing technologies and methods for detecting signals from potential alien civilizations. Tarter's research has significantly advanced our understanding of the universe and our place within it, making her a prominent figure in astrophysics and science communication. Her advocacy for scientific inquiry and exploration continues to inspire future generations of scientists.
