What lies beyond the gas giants?

The dwarf planet Eris (formerly 136199 Eris, and before that 2003 UB313) lies beyond Pluto. It should be noted that the Kuiper belt is generally defined as beginning outside the orbit of Neptune and extending out to about 55 AU from the sun. That puts the dwarf planets Pluto and Eris, and a large group of other objects out there, within that designated region. Farther out at some 50,000 AU, the Oort cloud is thought to exist, and it holds long period comets and perhaps some other objects. Links are provided to the relevant Wikipedia articles.

After Pluto, there is the Oort Cloud which is a congregation of asteroids, dwarf planets, comets, leftover remains from the formation of the solar system, and any other space junk that may come wandering by. There has been a longstanding myth that there is a 10th planet but by now, we all know there are only eight planets. There is no proposed 10th planet. All that's left after Pluto is the Oort Cloud and then the rest of the universe.
