They left behind trash, their PLiSS's (personal life support system, aka the backpack), science equipment (the Apollo 11 science package was called the EASEP, Early Apollo Scientific Experiment Package, future missions left behind an ALSEP, Apollo Lunar Surface Experiment Package), American Flags, the Descent Stages (the legs) of the Landing Modules, and some personal items which many astronauts have kept to themselves. Apollo's 15, 16, and 17 also left behind the Lunar Rovers.
