by studying meteorites, scientists have been able to work out the age of the solar system itself: 4.6 billion years. At that time, a cloud of dust and gas drifted trough space. The cloud become a swirling disc of matter, with a center that became hotter and denser, eventually becoming the Sun. Particles of remaining dust clumped together and became boulders. These built up like snow balls into large balls of rock, finally becoming planets.

What is the difference between a planetary nebula and a nebula that formed the solar system?

The solar system did not form from a nebula at all. Our solar system formed from a rotating cloud of gas and dust, our sun formed at the center and planets formed from the surrounding matter. when our sun became large enough to support nuclear fusion, the solar wind created blew away most of the gases present. A planetary nebula is formed after a star runs out of fuel (Helium) and collapses inward on itself due to the massive amount of gravity and the now unstable balance of the star. the pressure then becomes so great that the gases that had been pulled inward explode outward at an incredible speed. The Cats Eye Nebula is a good exampleFile:NGC7293_(2004).jpg

What was the date of the first nebula discovered?

The first recorded discovery of a nebula was made by Galileo Galilei in the early 17th century. He observed the Orion Nebula through his telescope on the night of January 26, 1610.

What is the origin of the Horsehead Nebula?

The Horsehead Nebula can be found in the constellation Orion. Its name comes from its resemblance to a horse's head. The Horsehead Nebula was first discovered by Williamina Fleming in 1888.

True or false the sun was born from a cloud of dust and gas?

The scientific answer: True. The sun formed about 4.6 billion years ago when a cloud composed primarily of hydrogen and helium with some heavier elements collapsed, igniting nuclear fusion. The creationist answer: False. On the first day God said let their be light. Genesis 1:3

Who found the first nebula?

It was found by a German man named Seemore Butts. He had a hairy face and chest and butt.

Was the first neutron star observed in a supernova remnant?

Yes, the first neutron star was observed in a supernova remnant. The object, named PSR B1919+21, was discovered in 1967 in the Crab Nebula, the remnant of a supernova that exploded in the year 1054 AD.

Which did not occur during the collapse of the solar nebula?

One of the events that did not occur during the collapse of the solar nebula was the formation of the first stars in the universe. Instead, the collapse of the solar nebula led to the formation of our solar system.

When was the Crab Nebula first observed?

The supernova explosion that created the nebula was seen in 1054 AD by probably everyone, but was recorded by Chinese and Arab astronomers. The first recorded siting of the nebula was in 1731 by John Bevis.

Is crab nebula same as supernova?

It's not the same as a supernova--the Crab Nebula is the visible remnant of a supernova event which occurred about 7,500 years ago. The light from the supernova explosion reached the earth and was observed by Chinese and Arab astronomers about 1,000 years ago. The Crab Nebula was the first object to be identified with a supernova which was actually observed during recorded history.
