The main problems that Eileen Collins faced had to do with her being a female pilot and astronaut in what had traditionally been a man's world. She was only the second woman ever to attend the U.S. Air Force Test Pilot School, and she went on to become the first female space shuttle pilot as well as the first female shuttle commander. Many of her male colleagues made it difficult for her at first because they weren't used to a woman in the roles that she took on.

What are the problems met in space explorations?

Some of the problems faced in space exploration include long-duration missions that can lead to physical and psychological health issues in astronauts, the high cost of space missions which can limit the frequency of expeditions, and the challenges of developing technology that can withstand the harsh conditions of space. Additionally, space debris poses a risk to spacecraft and astronauts in orbit around Earth.

What was Micheal Collins job in the command module?

His main job was navigation. After reaching earth orbit, Collins took some star readings to tell mission control exactly where the spacecraft was. Mission Control used his information to tweak the burn that sent Apollo 11 to the moon. After departing earth orbit, Collins separated the Command/Service Modules from the booster and turned around and docked wtih Eagle. On the way to the moon, Collins took similar star sightings to deremine the exact speed and location of the spacecraft. A very small error would have sent the astronauts either into the moon itself or past the moon with no hope of coming back. Once in lunar orbit, Collins took photographs of scientific interest, mostly scouting future landing sites. It was Collins who performed the burns to put them into lunar orbit and get them out of lunar orbit. He also took star sitings on the way back to earth. In addition to all that, he had to be prepared to drop down and rescue Eagle in case the Lunar Module failed to reach lunar orbit.

What were the problems with project mercury?

One problem with Project Mercury was the spacesuit. It was very heavy and needed to be redesigned several times. Another problem that Project Mercury faced was designing a way to bring back the astronauts without them overheating on re-entry. There were also tragedies to overcome when a test failed and astronauts died.
