It needs to be open at the bottom to get heat from the burners into the balloon to warm up the air and decrease its density. If you sealed it off, eventually heat exchange through the fabric of the balloon would could the air off enough that the balloon would no longer be bouyant and it would lose altitute.

What would happen to an air up balloon if you take it up on a high mountain?

The balloon would get larger as the air pressure outside it dropped. At some height, the balloon would get large enough to burst.

What would happen if the air inside a hot air balloon cooled down?

If the air inside a hot air balloon cooled down, the density of the air would increase, causing the balloon to lose its buoyancy. As a result, the balloon would begin to descend. To maintain altitude, the pilot would need to heat the air again or release some weight from the balloon. Without intervention, the balloon would eventually land as the cooler air becomes less capable of supporting it.

What would happen if the air outside the hot air balloon were as hot as air inside?

what are the charicteristics about of a high pressure system

What would happen if the hot air balloon was on the moon?

If a hot air balloon were on the moon, it would not function as it does on Earth. The moon has no atmosphere, which means there is no air to heat and create lift. Consequently, the balloon would remain deflated and grounded, as there would be no buoyant force to support it. Additionally, the moon's lower gravity would not provide the necessary conditions for a hot air balloon to operate effectively.

What would happen if a hot air balloon rose higher and higher in the atmosphere?

After you hit a certain altitude, the air would become so thin, it would starve the flame making the balloon rise of oxygen, the flame would go out, and the balloon would come plummeting back down to earth

What will happen to the air particles in a sealed balloon if it is cooled?

Cooling the air inside a sealed balloon will cause the air particles to slow down and lose energy, resulting in a decrease in pressure. As a result, the balloon will shrink in size due to the decrease in pressure exerted by the air particles on the balloon walls.

What would you exect to happen to a balloon filled with air was put into a refigerator?

Putting an air-filled balloon in a refrigerator will cause it to shrink.

What would you expect to happen to a balloon filled with air if it was out into a refrigerator?

The balloon would shrink in size as the air inside cools and contracts. This is because gases, like the air in the balloon, contract when they are cooled and expand when they are warmed.

What would you expect to happen to a balloon filled with air it was put into a refrigerator?

As it gets colder the air molecules move closer together and the balloon deflates.

What would happen to a blown up balloon if it is placed in a refrigerator?

When the air inside a balloon cools, it will also contract, therefore the balloon will partially deflate.
