If the earth did not revolve around the sun, there would not be any seasons. The problem is that if the earth did not revolve around the sun, that is, if it came to a stop in its orbit, the sun's gravity (with just the tiniest help from the earth's) would pull the earth into the sun.

What is the position of the planets around the sun?

The eight planets in our solar system orbit the Sun in roughly the same plane known as the ecliptic. From closest to farthest from the Sun, the order of the planets is Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune. Why did Sally Ride travel to space?

She needed to release 2 satellites into space, and make them orbit around the earth. She spent most of her time when she wasnt working, floating around, and staring down at the moon/earth. She never got to go to the moon, she was killed in a car accident in 2009.

Why do some scientists think that Jupiter's existence may have been critical for life to evolve on Earth?

Some scientists believe Jupiter played a role in protecting Earth from frequent asteroid impacts that could have otherwise inhibited the evolution of life. Jupiter's strong gravitational force can deflect or capture incoming asteroids, reducing the number of impacts on Earth. This allowed life to flourish by providing a more stable environment for evolution.

When was the endoscope invented?

1805, but it wasnt used as much becasue it was too bulky and hard to use as it wasnt flexible as todays. a German scientist invented it (forgot name) and used a candle at the end of the endoscope. it wasnt until the 1960's when optics were discovered that the endoscope became so popular.
