Focus or the focal point.
If you shine a parallel (ie unfocussed) beam of light perpendicular to a convex lens it will focus to a point on the other side. That place is called the focal point of the lens. Its distance to the lens is called the focal length.
A concave mirror can form real images or virtual images depending on the object position relative to the focal point of the mirror. Real images are formed when the object is located beyond the focal point, while virtual images are formed when the object is located between the mirror and the focal point.
The focal point of the facade of a Romanesque church is typically the main entrance, which is often elaborately decorated with sculptures and decorative elements. This entrance serves as the main point of access for worshippers and is usually emphasized to draw attention to the spiritual significance of entering the church.
In 'The Lamentation' figures are seen from the back which Giotto did often to emphasize the foreground. The strong diagonal of the rocky ledge also concentrates our attention on the group and physically separates them from the heavenly realm. The grouping of the figures puts the viewer in a position of looking in from behind, or 'staged' like a drama. This device was a contradiction to the old way of frontality.
focal length of the lens
The distance from a lens to the focal point is called the focal length.
Focal Point:The distance from the Lens to the Focal Point is called the Focal Point.
The focal point is the point where light converges after it passes through a concave lens. The focal length is the distance of the focal point to the lens. Same for a convex lens, except that the focal point is the imaginary point from where light deflected from lens seems to have emerged.
The focal point of a circle is the center.
The distance from the center of a mirror to the focal point is called the focal length.

In art a composition's focal point is actually called the focal point. There may be multiple focal points, in which case the main one is the focal point and the others are secondary focal points. You can recognize the focal point because it is somehow set apart from the rest of the composition.
Focal Point for my A+ buddies ;p

Focus (only at the focal point if the incoming rays are all parallel to the axis).
