Mercury and Gemini
Other space programs that preceded the Apollo Program include the Mercury and Gemini programs, both of which were conducted by NASA in the 1960s to prepare for manned space missions. The Soviet Union also had several space programs such as Vostok and Voskhod that preceded the Apollo Program.
Apollo 17 was the last manned mission to the moon because of budget cuts, shifting priorities within NASA, and waning public interest in space exploration. After completing the mission objectives set by the Apollo program, NASA decided to focus on other programs such as the development of the Space Shuttle.
The three main space programs developed for human space travel and moon missions are NASA (United States), Soviet space program (USSR), and the Apollo program (United States), which was a part of NASA focused specifically on landing astronauts on the moon.
There were a total of 15 manned flights as part of the Apollo space program. These flights included 6 missions that landed on the Moon (Apollo 11, 12, 14, 15, 16, and 17) and 9 missions that orbited the Earth and Moon but did not land.
The second manned space program was the Gemini program, conducted by NASA between 1961 and 1966. Gemini aimed to develop space travel techniques for missions to the Moon and later served as a bridge between the Mercury and Apollo programs.

It was the Apollo 1 and Apollo 13.
The Apollo space program came to an end in 1975. It was responsible for the manned Moon flights. It was run by NASA, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. It is a United States Government Agency and is now involved in other space programs,https://www.nasa.gov/

Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo.
The second manned space program was the Gemini program, conducted by NASA between 1961 and 1966. Gemini aimed to develop space travel techniques for missions to the Moon and later served as a bridge between the Mercury and Apollo programs.
Apollo 17 was the eleventh manned space mission in the NASA Apollo program. It was the first night launch of a U.S. human spaceflight and the sixth and final lunar landing mission of the Apollo program. The mission was launched at 12:33 a.m. EST on December 7, 1972, and concluded on December 19. It remains both the most recent manned moon landing and manned flight beyond low Earth orbit.
Apollo 1 was the first manned mission in the Apollo program, launched in February 21, 1967. It never reached space. The first Apollo mission to actually reach space was the Apollo 7 mission.
The name Apollo was given by N.A.S.A , it was their third manned spacecraft, Mercury was one manned craft, Gemini is named after the constalation Gemini , Twins as it was two man craft . Apollo would be three manned and they aimed to land on the moon, mind you this was way back in 1960.
The first international manned space flight occurred on July 17, 1975, when the United States Apollo spacecraft and Soviet Soyuz spacecraft docked in orbit. The mission was known as the Apollo-Soyuz Test Project (ASTP) and marked the beginning of international cooperation in space exploration.
