Here is one way to tell time by the sun. In most places the sun rises around 6 a.m. and sets around 6 p.m. That means the halfway point between where the sun rises and sets will be noon. You can assume the time it takes for the sun to travel the sky from horizon to horizon will be about 12 hours. That's about half of the 24 hour trip around the earth. Think of the sky as a new kind of watch by divided the sky into 12 increments, and directly overhead will be noon. You know that since the sun rises in the East and sets in the West that from overhead to the East is morning and overhead to the West is afternoon. For a lot of people the width of their hand at arms length will be about one hour on our sky-watch. You can hold out your arm and measure the number of hand-widths from the horizon to the sun, and with a little easy math come up with the time. An example would be, three hands from the Eastern horizon would be about 9 A.M. Two hands from the Western horizon would be about 4 P.M.
You can tell time by observing the position of the sun in the sky. The sun rises in the east and moves westward across the sky, reaching its highest point at solar noon. By noting the direction of the sun and estimating its angle above the horizon, you can approximate the time.
Unfortunately, a sundial relies on the position of the sun's shadow to tell time, so it isn't possible to accurately tell time using a sundial on a cloudy day when the sun is obscured.
You can estimate the time of day by looking at the sun's position in the sky. In the morning, the sun rises in the east and moves higher in the sky until it reaches its highest point at solar noon. In the evening, the sun sets in the west. By tracking the sun's movement and estimating its position, you can gauge the time of day.
A sundial is a way to tell time without a clock. It uses the sun and positions of shadows to tell the time. These are fairly accurate.
Sharp shadow show us that light travels in straight lines and cannot bend around corners.
they use to tell time by looking at the sun. weather the sun was at the west or east or north or south, know they tell time by looking at the clock.
You can tell the time by looking at the sun's position. A great time teller is the sunflower wich turns after the sun on how he moves .
yes by looking at the sun
yes u can by looking at the sun
by looking at the sun or using a sun dial or an hour glass or mabey they had watches u never kno......
They knew what time it was because they could tell the time by looking at the sun. Whatever angle the sun was at, told them the time. So, they just looked at the sun for the time when clocks were first invented. Or they just used a sundial.
Most people back then used the sun for their time-telling. Also, they had something called a sun dial, and it was a stick that cast a shadow on a certain board that they made up. Depending on what the shadow touches tells what time it was.
You can use a sun dial.
You can tell time without a clock or watch because looking at the sun position. From the West to north to East.
