ICARUS

Your description doesn't exactly match any single Greek legend.

  • Icarus' father Daedalus made wings out of feather's and wax so that he and Icarus could escape from the island of Crete. Against his father's warnings he flew too close to the sun and the wax melted sending Icarus falling to his death.
  • The Greek Hero Bellerophon rode the winged horse Pegasus up Mount Olympus and got hit by a lightening bolt from Zeus for his presumptuousness. He didn't die however but lived the rest of his life as a simpleton and a fool
  • The Titan Prometheus stole fire from the sun to give to man. Zeus punished him by chaining him to a rock and having an eagle eat out his liver every day.
  • Ixion was invited by Zeus to be a guest in Olympia. There Ixion breached hospitality rules by trying to have six with Zeus' wife. For this offense Zeus bound Ixion to an burning and ever-spinning wheel and cast him down to Hades.
