Sir John Herschel
Anna Atkins is often credited as the first person to create a book illustrated with photographs and is famous for her pioneering work in sun printing, specifically using the cyanotype process. In the mid-19th century, she produced images of algae and other botanical specimens, which showcased the unique blue prints created by exposure to sunlight. Her work not only contributed to photography but also to the field of botany.

To print negatives for cyanotype, you can use a digital image editing software to invert the colors of your image. This will create a negative image that can be printed onto a transparent film or acetate sheet. Once you have your negative, place it on top of the cyanotype-coated paper and expose it to UV light to create the final cyanotype print.

Blueprints were first developed in the early 19th century in England. The process, known as cyanotype, was invented by Sir John Herschel in 1842, using a chemical reaction to produce white lines on a blue background. This method allowed architects and engineers to reproduce technical drawings quickly and cheaply, revolutionizing the way designs were shared and utilized.
