A round pit in the moon's surface is called a crater.
Cronus, the first God of the Universe and the only Titan willing and brave enough to follow Gaia (the Earth)'s wishes and kill the evil Uranus (the Sky) who imprisoned the Hecatonchires (the hundred-handed beasts) and the Cyclopes (the one-eyed beasts) in Tartarus, which was an endless pit guarded by a monster named Campe. Cronus married his sister, Rhea and had six children. Because Cronus knew that one of his sons would overthrow him as he overthrew his father, he decided to stop the next generation and eat (swallow) five of his six children (Demeter, Hera, Hades, Hestia, and Poseidon). But Gaia gave Rhea advice on how to keep her sixth son (Zeus). Rhea gave Cronus a stone (known as the Omphalos Stone) wrapped in swaddling clothes (robes) and tricked him into believing that the stone was his sixth son. Cronus promptly ate the stone. Rhea hid baby Zeus in a cave on Mount Ida, Crete, in secrecy, in fear that Cronus would find out about the trick played on him. [The story on how Zeus thrived is a mystery spread upon different people and stories, see various articles on Zeus and Cronus for details.] As Zeus grew up, he became stronger and gained more friends and allies. When Zeus was fully grown and mighty, Gaia gave him an emetic herb to use on Cronus. Zeus tricked Cronus into thinking that the herb would give him immense and overbearing power, but instead it made Cronus extremely sick. Cronus later threw up the five of his children along with the Omphalos Stone. Zeus had prevailed. Zeus shared land and power among each of his siblings, he made Hades the god of the Underworld, Poseidon the god of the sea, Demeter the god of the harvest, Hestia the goddess of architecture and family, Hera the goddess of marriage and the rights of women. Of course, being Zeus, he kept the best for himself. Zeus chose the right to guard the sky and the heavens, also becoming the second God of the Universe. Zeus also shared power, laws, and rights to those who lived in his land. Source(s): Wikipedia, Books, School
It is doubtful that the word 'accomplishments' can be attributed to any deity as no proof exists that and did, or presently do, exist. However below are some of the acts that have been attributed to Zeus; He chopped his father, Kronos the titan lord, into bits and cast him into the pit of Tartarus. Zeus's main accomplishment was overthrowing Kronos, and taking becoming leader of the gods. Kronos knew that one of his children would overthrow him. So every time he had a child, he would eat it. His wife was depressed, and finally went to Mother Earth (also Gaea.) Mother Earth was happy to help, and quickly gave advice to Kronos's wife. When Kronos had his 6th child, the baby Zeus, his wife quickly hid Zeus, and instead gave Kronos a stone to swallow. Baby Zeus grew up, and with the help of two other Titans, and the swallowed gods, (how they got out of Kronos's stomach is another story), Zeus defeated Kronos. eat his child A major thing that Zeus did was overthrowing Cronus and the other Titans, causing him to rule Mount Olympus and the Gods and Goddesses. He also was given the power to control over atmospheric phenomena (lightning, thunder, rain, wind). His powerful lightning bolt was given to him by the cyclops and Hephaestus, the blacksmith god. His main accomplishment was to take over Kronos well for starters he ate his wife... not one i think he should be proud of. He also helped his daughter win a competition against her friend to disarm each other and Athena accidental ended up killed her friend.

She's famous because Hades, the God of the Underworld, was shot by Cupid and fell instantly in love with her daughter, the Goddess of Spring, also known as Persephone. He opened up a black pit beneath her and she fell into the Underworld. She was forced to marry him. Demeter, frantic about the loss of her daughter, makes sure none of the crops grow in her misery. As mankind is starving, Zeus finally sends Hermes to find out what happened. Hermes talks to a farmer who lost his pigs mysteriously in what he described as a "pit as black as the night sky". He also interrogates the God of the Sun, who found out what happened. Zeus orders Hades to give Persephone back, but only if she didn't eat any food while in the Underworld. Persephone, unfortunately, had consumed three pomegranate seeds, and was forced to stay in the Underworld for half the year and could stay with her mother for the other half (Her mother is Demeter, remember.) So while Demeter had her daughter, the Earth enjoyed Spring and Summer. But when Persephone was forced to join Hades the other half of the year, Demeter made the land suffer during her misery, producing Fall and Winter. That's how the seasons were born, and that's how Demeter got famous.

Taturus, the pit for evil people or immortals, located in the Underworld.
so that if he doesnt land a trick, he doesnt hurt himself by landing on snow
Well not exactly. Zeus was just blaming Percy for the theft. The real villain was the thing in the pit. Luke was working for it. If you have read all of the books, I could put a name to it but I don't want to give anything away to those who haven't read it.
