∙ 9y agoPeople cannot see deeper into the sun than the photosphere because the gas lower than the photosphere is so dense that it isn't transparent. It gets denser the farther down one goes.

The photosphere is the layer in the sun's atmosphere that is dense enough to emit plenty of light but not so dense that the light can't escape.
