While he was a test pilot at Edwards Air Force Base in California NASA sent out enquiries exmplaining the basics of the astronaut program and looking for volunteers. Neil thought it sounded exciting and signed up.
No. But they were only married later. He was married to Janet, the mother of his children, 40 years, while he did everything important. This was an unimportant and unflattering part of his life. We want to remember Mr. Armstrong's finer moments.
Buz Aldrin NOT Neil Armstrong! Neil Armstrong landed on the moon 10 minutes after Buz Aldrin did. They also went with Mike Collins who flew round the moon several times never actually stopping the rocket in space at all! So Neil Armstrong should not take all the credit because actually Buzz Aldrin landed first but if you want our science teacher o be happy say Neil Armstrong. :)
Yes, Buzz Aldrin was aware that Neil Armstrong was designated to be the first person to walk on the Moon during the Apollo 11 mission. Aldrin was the Lunar Module Pilot and accepted his role in the historic mission supporting Armstrong.
Neil Armstrong, born on August 5, 1930 in Wapakoneta, Ohio, was a former American astronaut, test pilot, university professor, and a United States Naval Aviator. He is well known as the first person to set foot on the moon on July 20, 1969. He was the son of Stephen Koenig Armstrong and Viola Louise Engel. He has two siblings: June and Dean. As a child, Neil Armstrong wanted to be able to fly airplanes. When he was in school, he studied aerospace engineering at Purdue University. He was also accepted into the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He had a Bachelor of Science degree in aeronautical engineering from Purdue University and a Master of Science degree in aerospace engineering from the University of Southern California. On January 26, 1949, he reported to Naval Air Station Pensacola for flight training. And on August 12, 1950, he became a fully qualified Naval Aviator. Neil Armstrong loved planes and flying since he was young. He got a pilot's license before a obtaining a driver's license. Flying was his first love, and space flight was the ultimate expression of this love he had for flight.
Oh, dude, Neil Armstrong went to Purdue University. Yeah, like the astronaut guy went to a school that sounds like a chicken dish. I mean, who wouldn't want their alma mater to be associated with delicious food, right?
