Why do changes on the moon's surface rarely occur?

The Moon experiences no weather; no rain, snow, wind, nothing to reshape the surface the way the plants and the weather do on Earth. The only changes that happen there are the slow fracturing of the rocky surface as it is heated by the Sun and then cooled in the 14-day nights.

The only other mechanism of change are meteor impacts, and the Moon has seen MANY of those over the past 4 billion years. Every crater you see is a meteor impact site, and the millions of craters that you cannot see are also impact sites. But over our brief lifetimes, we cannot notice the gradual changes.
