Since the moon orbits the earth, it would follow the earth away from the sun in Winter.
does the moon ever appear blue and if so, why?
The moon retains its relative shape. It's difference is not noticeable as it loses or gains matter very very slowly. What you are seeing is its shadow moving. On occasion, you can see the earth's shadow on the moon's surface. The earths atmosphere can also have a lens effect when the moon is near the horizon.
Moon illusion is when the moon seems bigger when it is rising. So really the moon is not bigger it is in the mind.
The Moon's Phases (or Lunar Phases).
because of the sun the moon changes shapes.
A solar eclipse is caused by the moon blocking the sun's light and thus casting a shadow. The moon is orbiting Earth and thus moving relative to it. As the moon moves, so does its shadow.
