Actually, the moon is many times visible in the day sky. Check out the related links, and you will see that the moon sometimes rises in the morning and is visible through the day. The reason we sometimes don't see the moon in the day sky is because of its orbit.

Sometimes the moon IS visible during daytime, and sometimes it is not. The best times to see the moon during daytime are a few days before and a few days after the date of the full moon. Before the full moon date you will find it in the sunrise/moonrise side of the sky late in the day, and after the full moon it will be in the sunset/moonset side of the sky early in the day.

It is not possible to see the moon in the daytime at the time of the full moon because at that time it is below the horizon. When the moon is full, the sun and the moon are over almost or exactly opposite points on the earth. If their positions over the earth are exactly opposite each other, a lunar eclipse happens.

When the time of the month is at or near the date of the new moon, the sun and the moon are generally in the same part of the sky. During those times it is difficult if not impossible the see the moon not only because most of its lighted side is facing away from you but also because the brightness of the sun causes your eyes to protect themselves by adjusting so that they let less light in. Since moonlight is much, much dimmer than sunlight, when your eyes are adjusted to the sunlight, the moonlight is too dim to be seen. The same thing happens when a flashlight or torch (not fire; that's what a flashlight is called in England, which I guess makes more sense since they don't flash) is shined directly into your eyes; everything else beyond the light suddenly looks darker and harder to see. Occasionally at the time of the new moon the sun and the moon are in exactly the same direction. That's when a solar eclipse happens.

Is it visible in the eastern sky or the western sky?

The moon orbits the earth once a month, so throughout the month, observations taken at the same time of day will show how the moon moves around us during that time. Sometimes it will be in the west, sometimes above and sometimes in the east. A lot of the time it won't be visible on your side of the planet. It depends on where the moon is in it's orbit.

How can the moon be visible to day and at the same time night?

The Moon is visible as long as it is above the horizon. On average, the Moon is above the horizon approximately 12 hours 25 minutes at a time, and below the horizon the next 12 hours 25 minutes.
