It's possible that The Master may return in future episodes.
If you remember the last episode with The Master, he was cremated. However his ring survived.
If you look closely at the ring, it has the same patterned markings as the Timelord stopwatch in which they hide their identities in dire circumstances. The ring was picked up by a passer-by and a loud, evil laugh was heard as the ring was touched.
So, it is possible The Master may return.
