I just finished reading Messenger and it is absolutely the most inspirational, touching, spiritual book I have ever read. I am going to make it my "gloomy day book" so if I am ever feeling down, I will open it and be reminded to "play after the storm". If anybody ever deserved to be a saint, Mattie does.
Mattie Stepanek's birth name is Matthew Joseph Thaddeus Stepanek.
Mattie Stepanek's biological father was Jamey Stepanek. He was a significant figure in Mattie's life, providing support and encouragement as Mattie navigated his challenges with muscular dystrophy and pursued his passion for poetry. Jamey Stepanek's influence was evident in Mattie's work and his outlook on life.
His father is God.

As of my last update, Jeni Stepanek, the mother of the late Mattie Stepanek, is not publicly known to be married. She has focused on her work as a speaker and author, often sharing her experiences and insights about grief and resilience. However, for the most current information, it's best to check recent sources or news articles.
Mattie J.T. Stepanek believed that people are genuinely and generally 'good' and that our world could be a peaceful place if we each take personal responsibility for choosing habits and attitudes that shape peaceful realities. Mattie shared this philosophy and message of hope through seven bestselling books (6 books of "Heartsongs" poetry and 1 book of essays and journal correspondence). He was also a well-respected public speaker. Mattie changed other peoples' lives by simply being himself... by being real. Mattie was witty and wise, and he aspired to be an 'ambassador of humanity' by listening to others, and gently touching the world with his message of hope and peace, and Heartsongs.
