By analogy, yes. Gina is a shortened form of Regina, which means Queen. Saint Mary- the Blessed Mother is certainly the Queen of Heaven! The same analogy works with Donna- which simply means Lady, and is a title of respect like Mister with the male- but add Ma- and you have Madonna. Interestingly Donna as a Christian name ( implied Marian) is far more common than Madonna as a first name- respect implied for Mother Of God. So Gina is certainly within the saintly protocols. I can"t say the same about, for example Aurora which was a Roman Goddess of the Dawn- but is a fairly popular girl's name in Latin countries . Then it dawned on me.
