Because the church never helps or interfers with a saint, it just takes the credit for what the newly accredited saint has done in the name of the church, because what they have done has become public knowledge, and therefore an ego boost for the church. Check out any Saint who was ever supported in anyway by their church's religion before they became a Saint. Rare'r than hens teeth.
