Athena is the goddess who protects and assists Odysseus in Homer's epic poem "The Odyssey." She guides and supports him throughout his journey, often intervening on his behalf with the other gods. Athena's favor is a key factor in Odysseus's eventual success in returning home to Ithaca.
A grouper protects itself with its fins. The fins on the grouper are like needles, if you touch one, it injects a poison and feels like the sting of a bee.
A dog protects itself by growling if endangered and then go in to bite if it feels threatened.
A hippopotamus protects itself with its sharp, and strong teeth. The hippo is large, and not afraid to attack when it feels threatened. Its teeth and jaws are strong and able to bite and crush enemies.
Athena kills the girl, but then feels bad because the punishment was too much, so brings her back to life as a spider, so she can still weave.
Athena is the Goddess that supposedly protects Athens. Athena and Poseidon fought over controll of the city. Each God had to give a present to the people whichever was the best would protect and 'rule' over Athens. Poseidon made a geyser of salt water. And Athena gave them an olive tree. Since the people could do nothing with salt water they chose Athena. Which in Greek mythology guards Athens.
