A territory manager is going to have the widest area to cover as they are the people that also control the area manager and the zonal manager. The area manager might deal with a group of stores and the zonal manager might have just one store.
An "Area Manager" by definition will have a geographical area to cover for their company. They will in normal cases have a group of managers spread across that area, who report to them on the business undertaken. I.E. In a retail environment an area manager might have 25 large stores under them, and in each store a manager reporting to that area manager.

I work for 84 and all store manager pay is different from store to store / area to area. Small store managers may only make $60,000 yearly. But at a big store in a good market, a manager can make $200 plus. It all depends on dedication and ability as far as which store you end up in. Relocation is almost always necessary.
