How do you install TV wall mount to brick fireplace?

If the fire is in use (especially if it is a coal fire - sooty and often hot) I would not fix a TV there. Otherwise, bolt special mounting plates directly onto the chimney-breast bricks, and run a power cable and aerial lead from the nearest source as neatly as possible, usually behind the skirting-boards. Do not run cables under carpets.

By using masonry drills and screws. Wouldn't recommend it though, especially if there's any chance that heat will be able to reach the TV and shorten its useful life. Looks nice, but probably not a good idea in the long run.

You should first determine if you will be able to personally perform the job. It is HIGHLY recommended to contact a professional installer if you are not comfortable connecting the mount into wood studs, running cables in the wall or getting the television on the wall with the help of a friend.

1. Start by unpacking the television and wall mount

2. You will need to determine if your wall mount is a standard pattern that is compatible with your TV. Be on the lookout for a VESA identifier when buying your mount as this is the industry standard.

3. Use a stud finder to find a stud on the wall that you wish you mount the television, most television mounts will require 2 studs. The studs should be 16-24" in standard household construction. You will want these as close to center on your mounting location as possible. Take care to note any high voltage power lines that may be running along the same stud. Mark the center of the stud at the center of the height to be mounted

4. Hold the tv mount wall plate up on the wall at the center of the desired television height and line up the center stud mark. Be careful to ensure that the arms connecting to the back of the tv will hold the television centered on the mount. If not, adjust accordingly.

5. Mark the center stud line with a cross hash to indicate your first pilot hole location.

6. Use a level to mark the second cross hash on the second stud, this is your second pilot hole.

7. Determine the distance from the center hole on the top of the mount to the same on the bottom hole.

8. Mark your 3rd and 4th pilot hole with a vertically leveled line at the same distance.

9. Once you have marked your pilot hole locations, drill your pilot holes. Drill bit size will vary from one mount to another.

10. Once your pilot holes are drilled, mount your main mounting plate to the wall with the provided lag bolts and a ratchet wrench, making sure to use the supplied washers, if included.

11. Locate the mounting holes on the back of the tv and find the appropriate hardware to screw the mounting arms to the back of the television in a vertical pattern. There should be at least 2 screws per arm.

12. Once this is complete you and a friend will lift the television to the height of the mount, hook the top hooks to the top level of the mounting plate and then ease the bottom toward the wall until the mount "engages."

Drill into the brickwork using a masonry drill, and use rawlplugs to screw into. If the fireplace is in use (especially a coal fire) rising heat and dust could be a problem.
