Plug in your iPod

Go to "My Computer"

Go to your iPod's drive (F for me)

Make sure you can see all hidden folders (If you aren't sure go to Tools, Folder Options, View Tab, and check Show)

After that click iPod_Control

There are 3 methods to do it:

1. Put the iPod touch into recovery mode and then connect to iTunes to restore;

2. If the "Find My..." feature is enabled and the iPod touch is connected to a network, sign in to your iCloud account to erase the forgotten passcode;

3. Have a try with an iPhone passcode removal like Joyoshare iPasscode Unlocker. It can reset the forgotten passcode on any iOS device.

You have to plug your ipod into your computer and on the ipod's section on itunes, click restore settings. This will take everything off the ipod though but there will be no password. It'll be the same as when you first bought it - no setting either. Then you need to sync it back again.

The iPod touch is synced with iTunes: connect the iPod to iTunes - click the iPod icon after iTunes detects the iPod - choose Summary - Restore iPod...;

The iPod touch is not synced with iTunes: put the iPod touch into recovery mode and then connect to iTunes to restore it.

Suppose iTunes cannot recognize your iPod touch, you may need an iPod passcode reset tool like Joyoshare iPasscode Unlocker. It can help you to reset your forgotten passcode on iPod touch without any limitations.

Unless it's jailbroken, you need to do a factory restore in itunes. you will lose all settings and progress in apps (mainly games) but not apps themselves, or other downloaded content.
