Fuel injectors don't tap. You are hearing the hydraulic valve lifters which are full of oil when functioning properly. Without sufficient oil they will make a tapping sound. If the car has sat for along time they will sometimes tap for a few seconds when you first crank it up. If yours valve lifters are tapping intermediately I would suggest checking your oil level and if that is OK you may have an oil pump going bad. If that should be the case do not drive the car as the motor will not get sufficient oil and will burn the bearings and kill the motor.
Sell the van, saves you load of headaches....major project Quote from stealership $5200,includes 8 injectors and fuel pump
The fuel system in a 1994 Plymouth Acclaim operates by drawing gasoline from the fuel tank through a fuel pump, which sends it to the fuel injectors. The fuel injectors then spray a fine mist of fuel into the engine's intake manifold, where it mixes with air for combustion. The system is managed by the engine control unit (ECU), which regulates fuel delivery based on factors like engine load and temperature to optimize performance and efficiency. Additionally, the system includes components like a fuel filter to ensure clean fuel reaches the injectors.
What might cause your 2002 Silverado 4.8 to run rough under a load could be clogged fuel injectors or a clogged fuel filter. It might also run rough under a load because of a transmission sensor issue.
This is by design, as the engine is not under load. the engine computer shuts off the fuel injectors, there is no hysteresis so the injectors turn back on quickly once below 4000rpm, and the cycle repeats. This also happens when the speedometer maxes out, in my case, 180kM/h, the fuel injectors shut off.
The least likely cause of an engine hunting and surging at top no-load speeds is a malfunctioning fuel injector. Other factors such as an incorrect fuel-air mixture, vacuum leaks, or issues with the ignition system are more commonly associated with such symptoms. Fuel injectors typically affect engine performance under load, rather than at no-load conditions. Therefore, while they can influence overall engine behavior, they are less likely to be the primary cause of hunting and surging when the engine is not under load.
Maybe fuel filter Maybe plugged catalytic converter
COUPLE OF GUESSES. NUMBER 1 WOULD BE POSSIBLY A FUEL RELATED ISSUE, PLUGGING UP YOUR INJECTORS. COULD TRY SOME TECHRON IN THE FUEL TANK WITH A HARD DRIVE, OR TRY FLUSHING OUT ALL THE INJECTORS, THEN DRIVE IT HARD. NUMBER 2 WOULD BE A MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR, BUT WILL MOST LIKEY CAUSE YOUR CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO COME ON. answer it sounds like your plug leads are breaking down under load or the airmass meter is gone i work in merc main dealer
Because the air conditioning compressor, is run from a pulley off of the engine. This puts an additional load on the engine, which causes more fuel to be used.
try replaceing fuel fiter or you may need new tbi injectors i have same problem with my blazer
dirt in the carburator, incorrect fuelling or ignition (i.e. spark) breaking down under load. Check that fuel is getting through, fuel pressure & that injectors are spraying correctly, and that plugs are giving a good healthy blue spark. If spark is weak it could be plugs, leads, coil, distributor cap / rotor arm or a bad earth - check everything.
not the perfect air fuel mixture. normal under load and acceleration.
On a 2004 Kia Sorento, fuel delivery is controlled by the fuel pump, which is located in the fuel tank. The fuel pump sends gasoline through fuel lines to the engine, where the fuel injectors atomize it for combustion. The engine control unit (ECU) regulates the fuel flow based on various inputs, such as throttle position and engine load, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency. Additionally, the fuel pressure regulator maintains the correct fuel pressure in the system.
