Guitarist Brian May overdubbed the sound of his guitar to make it sound as if more than one guitar was playing at the same time towards the end and also the voices in the operatic bit in the middle are overdubbed to give operatic effect. Apart from that, there were no effects used that I can think of. Part the reason why the song is such a master piece :)
