The decision support system in MIS helps the management level staff to make comparisons and alter certain processes for smooth running of the business. The system acts as a guide.
My question is ''What is the difference between Information System and Deceision Support System'' MIS systems provide information about organizational performance while DSS support techniques to analyze specific problems or opportunities
A system in MIS is a set of interrelated components working together to achieve a common goal. Different types of systems in MIS include transaction processing systems (TPS) for routine operations, decision support systems (DSS) for assisting with decision-making, and executive information systems (EIS) for supporting the strategic needs of top executives. Each type of system serves a specific purpose within an organization's information environment.

My question is ''What is the difference between Information System and Deceision Support System'' MIS systems provide information about organizational performance while DSS support techniques to analyze specific problems or opportunities
The main subsystems of Management Information System (MIS) include decision support systems, executive information systems, transaction processing systems, and knowledge management systems. Each subsystem is designed to support different aspects of organizational decision-making and information management.
In decision support system (now maturing into business intelligent) user has the ability to construct a table (view, query) with any combination of the existing fields in all database. The traditional MIS is confined to reports which although customize-able often become a one time design because of it's labour intensive nature. As illustration, if traditional MIS is ordinary excel table, decision support system is like the excel pivot table.
Expert systems are ones that are used to keep the business running. The executive ones will be used by those in charge when needed.
Components of MIS:- 1) Marketing Research System (MRS) 2) Marketing Intelligence System (MIS) 3) Internal Recoed System (IRS) 4) Dission Support System (DSS)
DSS is more focused on senior management/leadership influencing strong company direction, and decisions. MIS focuses on information flow relationships.
