What is wrong with a 1992 Toyota Celica that starts to idle up and down then it eventually cuts off completely and sometimes it won't start right back up?

it might be a fuel pump

I don't know if this will help but it sounds as if your engine is ranging and that may be the oxygen sensor that was the problem we had with our car

I have this exact same problem with my 87 celica and I've been told it's the fuel filter or fuel pump.

This Could be a number of things but I know I was told the same thing you guys were told here but the truth of it is first pull out the plug were the spark plugs are do you see oil on it? if so this could mean you need new gaskets put in such as a head gasket or manifold gasket and valve cover gaskets good luck I once again I had the same problem told many things but it turned out to be this problem that I stated above.
