It is widely believed that Edgar Allan Poe was allergic to alcohol. New discoveries have found that a drink of alcohol may have been what killed Poe.
It is not, because a haiku is "A three-line poem in any language, with five syllables in the first and last lines and seven syllables in the second, usually with an emphasis on the season or a naturalistic theme." and Alone by Edgar Allan Poe is much more than three lines.
Alone was written in 1829, but it was not published until after Poe's death by E. L. Didier in Scribner's Monthly for September of 1875.
