Yes

She was punished multiple time which are:

  • She was at school with a new teacher. That teacher did not like Laura. A note was passed to her, and once it was in her hand, the teacher saw, and yelled at her for passing notes. He made her stand at his desk, while he rapped her knuckles with a ruler 5 lashes.
  • Another time was when she stole her rival Nellies music box. When Mrs. Oleson found out, she ran and accidentaly broke it! Mrs. Oleson caught up to her, found Laura holding Nellie's broken music box, and dragged her back to her Pa. Pa made her apologize, and paid her the damages which was about 1$. Then later that night, Pa invited Mrs. Oleson and Nellie over and surprised Laura by bringing her out to the barn and beating her. She described it as him, stripping her down to her underwear so her dress would not be ripped, and spanked her with his belt, once for every penny it cost to repair it. Which would be 100 times. She was awful sore, sorry and humiliated after that. Of course, the next day, Nellie told everyone in school to make it worse.
