Well, not exactly. He, like a lot of other Science Fiction authors, imagined the technology that existed at the time taken to a new level. What he imagined was really cool, but not exactly like what we have now. He did predict that the whole world would be connected up, but he also kind of mis-predicted that there would be a few strong voices that everyone would listen to, and that would be able to change the world politically. The way it is now, some people are big forces online, but nowhere even close to the kind of influence that he was writing about... and anonymous users don't have the kind of pull that he predicted either.

I disagree about the power of anonymous users. You may be looking at it from the perspective of an English-speaking online user. I read an article on "A Real-World Demosthenes" in Korea, who became famous for his economic predictions while remaining anonymous (at first). Twas linked from Card's website a while back (please see the related link below).
