Scrooge didn't like Christmas. this was because he had a terrible childhood and a bad experience when he was a young man. for example, his father left him on Christmas Day in boarding school. luckily his sister came to tell him that father had changed. scrooge didn't believe her. a few years after scrooges sister died. that was hi only true friend. the only friends he had were the characters from books. all the kids didn't like scrooge. another example is when bell his fiance broke up with him because she thinks he prefers money over a dowerless girl.
