Helen has changed the world for the blind, the deaf and the mute and some of us today because in her condition, her family had thought that she would accomplish nothing, thinking she's a dumb-minded thing. But after Anne or Annie Sullivan Macy changed that around for her, Helen began making conferences for the blind, mute and deaf, teaching them what Helen has learnt with Anne/Annie. She made people believe that being blind, mute or deaf wasn't MUCH of a bad thing, but that they can still learn like other people in their lives.
